From Chicago Restaurants to an Indiana Farm
We’re Michael & Katie, a husband and wife team, and our goal is to produce the most delicious foods and sustainable non-food products in the midwest.
Having moved from Chicago to Crown Point, we’ve acquired a few acres of land where we’re building a self-sustaining farmstead filled with native flora & fauna— watched over closely by our Border Collie, Nebi.
Meet the Team
Michael Lanzerotte
Through his years of experience as a chef in Chicago restaurants, Michael began learning and developing a passion for the symbiotic relationship between locally grown ingredients and better flavors and nutrition in the food he prepares. He & Katie made the jump from Chicago to Crown Point, buying some land and learning all they can about growing food and creating products in the most healthy, clean, and sustainable ways they can.
Katie Lanzerotte
A Crown Point native, Katie spent five years as a pediatric nurse during which she began analyzing how mass-produced foods & consumer goods can affect behavior and physical health across populations and ages. Simultaneously, Katie began experiencing chronic headaches which were found to be the result of the candles she regularly burned. With that information in-hand, Katie happily embarked on this journey alongside Michael to cultivate the best and cleanest produce and products around.
Nebi
Nebi is the Head of Herding around these parts. Originally from rural Missouri by way of Chicago, Nebi spends her days roaming Home Sweet Hive’s five acres of farmland. She enjoys playing frisbee, watching egrets and geese in the pond, and long walks around the Lake County Fairgrounds with her parents.
